The Israeli military on Thursday killed a Palestinian man and wounded his son while fighting the Islamic State group in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, an Israeli military spokesman said.
The Israeli army said in a statement that the unidentified Palestinian was killed after a “hostile act” in Hebron.
It said the soldier wounded his father.
It said the Palestinian assailant had attacked an Israeli vehicle and the two soldiers were wounded when the Palestinian was shot in the chest by a tear gas canister.
The IDF said that two of its soldiers were injured in the incident.
The incident comes amid ongoing clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians who seek to establish an independent state in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem.
